Experience the very best of both tracks with The Classic. An 8 day/7 night all inclusive guided walk combining the Milford & Routeburn Tracks with a night in between in Te Anau.
The Classic combines The Milford Track and the Routeburn Track with a night in Te Anau. This 86km walk is over 6 days of hiking through the Fiordland and Mt Aspiring National Parks. The region is remote, rugged and largely inaccessible. It is primarily a rainforest and averages nine metres of rain a year.
The Milford Track is only accessible by boat and due to the high rainfall, its forests are lush and dense. The route over Omanui/Mckinnon Pass is steep, rocky and, above the treeline, very exposed to the elements. High winds, heavy rain and even snow can affect track conditions and make it very slippery, wet and muddy.
The Routeburn Track is also extremely exposed to the elements in the alpine environment, and has some steep and rocky sections.
We advise a strong level of agility, stability and fitness for this walk.
